Race Website, Childhood Cancer Month, Cancer Research, Applebee's

September is Childhood Cancer Month. According to Cancer.org, the types of cancers that occur most often in children are different from those seen in adults. Common types of cancer that occur in children include:

  • Leukemia
  • Brain and other central nervous system tumors
  • Neuroblastoma
  • Wilms tumor
  • Lymphoma (including both Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin)
  • Rhabdomyosarcoma
  • Retinoblastoma
  • Bone cancer (including osteosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma)

Children could sometimes develop cancers most commonly found in adults.

The Applebee’s Kids Helping Kids Triathlon invites all kids to help in the fight against childhood cancers. On October 12, 2014, the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, North Carolina will set the stage for this triathlon. Proceeds will benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research to continue funding pediatric cancer research at Duke Children’s Hospital. Find out how you can register to participate in this event, along with other helpful tips for kids and parents at http://kidshelpingkidstri.racesonline.com.
