In a matter of 11 hours, Reading Rainbow reached it’s $1 million goal. LeVar Burton, who is the host of Reading Rainbow, a children’s educational program celebrated with his colleagues to create their Kickstarter Campaign to make this program accessible to more children. This is a great story to report as we approach the end of Get Caught Reading Month! Many of us remember LaVar Burton from his role as Kunta Kinte in the series “Roots” and as the blind tech geek Geordi La Forge in “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

“Reading Rainbow” ran from 1983-2006. Now Burton is taking this concept to a brand new level through the Reading Rainbow app, based on this PBS children’s series. Read more about how you can get involved in this exciting program for children.

Our hats off to you LeVar and the Reading Rainbow team!
