There are numerous cases, studies and personal effects on the importance of eating healthier, while still enjoying good food. More often than not, we witness the lack of not only eating right, but making healthier lifestyle choices for our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states.

During the month of March, we celebrate National Nutrition Month®, sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Academy is the world’s largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. This month’s theme is “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right!” According to consumer research, the foods people tend to enjoy are the ones they will most likely eat the most. The key message for National Nutrition Month® will focus on how to combine taste and nutrition that will create healthy meals, according to recommendations per the Dietary Guidelines.

This month is a campaign to increase nutrition education and information to develop sound eating and physical activity habits. Poor eating habits coupled with the lack of sufficient exercise leads to increased health problems and puts a strain on the rising cost of health care. Since spring is 8 days away, if you know that you must make wiser food choices and incorporate physical exercise in your daily regimen, then let this be a jump start to spring into a new and improved you!

While this blog does not advocate making extreme changes to look like a runway model (and believe us, we love runway models and many of the fashions they dote), you can make doable changes to become a better you according to your body type! Stop making excuses and start making a change. There are many organizations, dietitians and doctors who will direct you on making wise choices according to the type of changes suited for your body style. If you don’t get your health under control, especially in the areas that where improvements are needed, then your body and life will be like a runaway train that’s about to derail. It’s not too late!
