Breast Cancer Awareness, MammogramsThis month we commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This annual campaign, which occurs in October, is designed to increase the awareness of this excruciating and deadly disease. Across the country, emphasis on early detection, sharing educational resources about the disease or participating in fundraisers to help provide mammograms to those in need are a few of the activities people are actively involved in.

Breast cancer not only stricken women, but affect men as well.  It is the second leading cause of death among women. Breast cancer is a group of malignant tumors that start in the cells of the breast. There are numerous local, state and national organizations focusing on the consequences, treatment and advocacy of breast cancer crusades. We found a couple of websites that you can look through to learn more about this deadly disease and ways you can get involved in the Breast Cancer effort.

If you or anyone you know has the hereditary traits of breast cancer, encourage them to be screened for early detection. Even if you do not have these traits in your genealogical pool, it does not hurt to be checked out any way.

Favorite Things for a CAUSE would like to give our audience an opportunity to share in our comment section and/or on our Facebook post, someone you know who is surviving this disease or has succumbed to this disease.
