Helping local families and those in need serving Madison County, Alabama

Christmas Charities Year Round (CCYR) is a non-profit, charitable organization that serves Madison County, Alabama. The organization assists local residents during natural disasters, helps those in need by providing school supplies in the fall, toys and food at Christmas, as well as free clothes and household items year round. CCYR also recognizes the elderly and disabled with a Christmas gift and meal.

Founded in 1949, Christmas Charities helped local families after a boll weevil infestation devastated the area’s cotton crop.  Since then, CCYR has been providing less fortunate children and their families with core necessities, to help improve the quality of their lives and encourage children to stay in school. Education is the key to helping these children break the cycle of poverty into which many of them are born.

Many generous individual & corporate contributors, including United Way & CFC donors, make it possible for Christmas Charities to serve thousands of people each year.  In addition, they are able to do a lot with a little, due to their small, but dedicated staff, and many diligent volunteers, including devoted volunteer board members.

Christmas Charities Year Round initiated a project called “Look Sharp, Feel Smart,” that is helping hundreds of kids with their back-to-school needs.
