When a teacher noticed that many students who returned to school on Monday from the weekend were lethargic, due to hunger of all things, something had to be done quickly! Hunger among children seems unbelievable in this day and time, especially in the United States of America. However, it is a harsh reality that seems so widespread nowadays. Together with Blair Road United Methodist Church in Mint Hill, North Carolina, this school established Bookbags of Love, a non-profit organization in 2009.

During the 2009 school year, Bookbags of Love was able to deliver bookbags filled with food every Friday, to help students and their families have enough food for the weekend. This initiative was so successful that they continued delivering food over the summer. With the help of dedicated volunteers and donors, Bookbags of Love is committed to keeping this project going, so that many children will not go hungry.

Bookbags of Love is helping to make a huge difference in the lives of children in need. To learn how you can donate food and any other items that Bookbags of Love may need, view details here.
