General Mills created Feeding Dreams in recognition of everyday people who positively impact their communities. Now-a-days, charitable contributions among many nonprofit organizations are down, but there are still corporate donors who know, recognize and give back to many of the communities that patronize their products and services. General Mills celebrates many of the unsung heroes in our communities by donating to their favorite charities.

Our local hero for the Charlotte, North Carolina market is Loretta Harris-Caldwell, Founder and CEO of Blessings in the Storm. This organization is a bridge that takes women and children across the abyss from homelessness and worldly addictions, to being independent and self sufficient through the power of the Holy Spirit. Favorite Things for a CAUSE ran a story about the mission of this amazing woman before she was selected and honored as the 2010 Feeding Dreams Community Champion for Charlotte.
