As a wife and mother of two sons, Kelly Hutchinson has developed a special interest in at-risk youth and young men who need a second chance to grow into healthy, productive men. In 2006, she founded R.E.F.O.R.M. (Rescuing Everyone From Offenses 2B Real Men). The program is geared toward men, ages 10-30, who have had problems with criminal activity and drug use or are at risk of these behaviors.

R.E.F.O.R.M. hosts monthly sessions that provoke changes in behaviors, attitudes, and mindsets through motivational sessions, testimonies, and examples of men who have overcome life’s challenges and bad decisions. In between sessions, participants receive home visits and phone calls to provide ongoing support. Kelly also serves on the Board of Directors with Habitat for Humanity (HFH) and serves on the management team of First in Families (FIF), a family support project of The Arc of Moore County. The Arc provides services and support to people with developmental disabilities and their families, and advocates for their rights.

Kelly is also a long time volunteer at the Rockingham soup kitchen and shelter and Richmond County Community Support Center. At the soup kitchen/shelter, she helps prepare and serve meals for the clients. Kelly works to distribute blankets and food to those that she meets on the streets who do not stay in the shelter or during the months when the shelter is closed. At the support center, Kelly serves as a tutor and life skills volunteer with at-risk youth. Kelly is a Sunday school teacher and a source of encouragement to many. She sends out monthly cards to a list of incarcerated men and also takes one day a week to help others find employment.
